Room was clean and staff when we arrived were great and even gave us a free upgrade because the place was empty But
Since there was a corporate event at the restaurant there was no parking because there is no designated parking for hotel guests. Fridge did not work
I liked the scenic location and the food from the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful - this always makes a stay pleasant if staff have a nice attitude like these ones did. Room was quite spacious.
My room (40) could have done with a make over as it was a bit shabby but I think renovations were underway on the neighboring rooms. Old and small TV.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The one teaspoon was very dirty, as if it was used for hot chocolate. So not sure how clean the other items were. The fridge was turned off, and I had to turn it on. There were no ice trays in the room, so I went to the reception asking for ice. She was very friendly and within minutes brought me one glass with a few pieces of ice in it. The ice also looked "old" as if it was in a freezer for ages, rather than fresh out of an ice machine.
We loved how close the Settler Hotel is to everything. After a big day out around Whangarei it was great to retreat back to the hotel crack open a wine, flick on sky movies, put our feet up and just relax. Our rooms were in very modern, very clean, fresh and in quiet surrounding and we must mention the wonderful staff. 10/10
Relaxing atmosphere, restaurant etc.
No hair dryer on this occasion, however I had my own
Handy to town centre. Ex room great superking bed.
The location is great, staff friendly, rooms comfortable,
I didn't like the bathroom, it needed a good make over and paint, it was mouldy in places and needed some updating.
Very friendly staff. Yummy meals. Close enough to hockey field for supporting team in tournament
The location was handy to Whangerai's attractions.
The room we had was way past it's use by. It needed a total refurbishment. Very disappointing.
Friendly staff, Lisa on front desk particularly good.
Little details at hotel letting it down. eg. Alarm clock having wrong time, kettle being very old and not working well. Lights not working.
Room was very plain, needs refirb and better entertainment facilities. Whangarei traffic system is a nightmare, not conducive to encouraging business investment or visitors. I was there for a meeting with NZ Refining company in Marsden Point I will not be staying in Whangarei again
Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere good food. Close to town and this hotel goes the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. The area it's in is private and depending on the room you're assigned you might not even realize you were in a city.
Not that we went there to watch TV but the amount of channels that we were offered were minimal and it was basically Free TV with 5 digital channels but no movie channel. (They did provide a DVD player though)
The fact that is is a resonable cost and has an onsite restaurant. Also in a quieter area than some motels in Whangarei.
The particualr room I was in was dated and in need of renovation, although everything was operational.
The staff were great - really welcoming and the service was excellent.
My room was nice but the bathroom was tiny. Next time I would choose the slightly bigger room.
Compact but not luxurious - adequate for what we needed. Accomodating of guest requirements.
No wash basin - culturally did not fit well with me. A small washbasin in the basthroom wouild have been helpful Did not like filling the jug to boil water from the same tap I used to wash my hands.
